Fire Polishing
Surface quality is a defining characteristic of glassware. After forming, fire polishing refines the glass surface and treats mould parting lines through controlled flame exposure.
Refined surfaces.
Efficient processes.
WALTEC combines article transport, positioning and rotation with burner technology adapted to the product. Horizontal, vertical and radial machines provide different process arrangements for round articles, glassware with handles and products with more complex geometries.
The treatment sequence follows the requirements of the article. A round product can rotate during polishing. A handled article may first remain in a fixed orientation for targeted treatment of a parting line, then rotate for the following polishing stage. Non-round products can be turned between treatment zones.
By coordinating these movements, WALTEC supports consistent surface treatment across a wide range of tableware, cookware and technical glass applications.

Horizontal fire polishing
WALTEC’s horizontal fire polishing machine is designed for a wide range of articles: From high-speed tumbler production to high-quality glassware with handles. In the case of handle production, the spindles are fixed in the first part of the machine and the tracking burner polishes the parting line of the split moulds. The body and the other parting lines are processed during the rotation of the spindles in the second part of the fire polisher. This procedure guarantees the highest surface quality.
Horizontal polishing machines can be equipped with additional options, e.g. article cooling.

Mode 1
Servo-driven article rotation in section 1 and section 2.

Mode 2
No rotation in section 1.
Servo-driven article rotation only in section 2.

for round, square, rectangular and oval articles
Vertical fire polishing
As illustrated in the figure, this fire polishing machine with two individually driven slides is designed for polishing washing machine windows, casserole dishes, food containers and other non-round products.
All movements, including the main chain, slide movement and spindle rotation, are servo-driven and freely adjustable. The 90° rotation is implemented by a strong mechanical cam.
Vertical polishing machines can be equipped with additional features, e.g. handle bending or hole burning.

Mode 1
Servo-driven article rotation in section 1 and section 2.
Mode 2
No rotation in section 1.
Servo-driven article rotation only in section 2.
Mode 3
No article rotation in both sections.
90° article turning between the sections.

for round articles with/without handle
Radial fire polishing
This radial fire polishing machine for round articles and articles with handle has a simple design and works in start-stop mode. The rotation of the main drive and the spindle rotation are powered by servos.

Mode 1
Servo-driven article rotation in section 1 and section 2.
Mode 2
No rotation in section 1.
Servo-driven article rotation only in section 2.

Fire polishing FOR IS MACHINERY
Refined surfaces
for flacons, bottles and jars.
WALTEC’s dedicated fire polishing equipment for IS-produced glass articles enhances surface brilliance and reduces visible blank mould seams.
Controlled flame exposure melts the outermost surface layer, creating a smoother, shinier appearance. The treatment addresses both the article body and the shoulder, with burner movements adapted to these different areas.
